The Supervisory Board of the documenta and the Museum Fridericianum Veranstaltungs-GmbH has elected Susanne Pfeffer as the new artistic director of the Kunsthalle Fridericianum in Kassel.

Susanne Pfeffer (*1973 in Hagen, Germany) is art historian and curator. At last she was chief curator at KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin (2007- 2012) and curatorial adviser at MoMA PS1 in New York. From 2004 until 2006 she was artistic director of the Künstlerhaus Bremen.
Furthermore  Pfeffer curated at São Paulo Biennale, Lyon Biennale, at Tel Aviv Art Museum, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Museum für Moderne Kunst Warschau and Museion Bozen.  She has realized several highly respected single and retrospective shows with e. g. Absalon, Kenneth Anger, Joe Coleman, Cyprien Gaillard, Emily Jacir, Sergej Jensen, Renata Lucas and Wael Shawky.
Besides the themed exhibitions Seeing is believing and You Killed Me First. The Cinema of Transgression she curated experimental group shows based on new productions like ... 5 minutes later or ONE ON ONE.
Susanne Pfeffer is publisher of numerous artist monographies and exhibition catalogues. In 2009 she was awarded by AICA USA for her exhibition Kenneth Anger at MoMA PS1.
